The Opportunity: 35M+ Underserved Merchants

Brazil has 13.2M micro-enterprises and 22M+ MEIs (sole traders) — a massive, fragmented market where most merchants still rely on basic POS machines from Stone/PagSeguro with zero business management tools. The beauty & wellness sector alone is worth $30B+ annually, and 150M+ Brazilians already use Pix for instant, zero-fee payments.

The SMB Thesis: One App, Everything a Merchant Needs

Kasha SMB is the merchant super-app. Free to start, instant value from day one. Accept Pix and card payments, manage bookings, send invoices, run CRM, and get paid tomorrow via payment anticipation. The marketplace drives consumer discovery, Luma AI runs the business 24/7, and the whole thing fits in a pocket via React Native. This is the core revenue engine — every other Kasha product line feeds merchants into SMB.

SoftPOS Terminal

Accept Pix QR, Tap-to-Pay, and card payments on any smartphone. No hardware needed.

Booking & Calendar

Appointments, walk-ins, staff scheduling. WhatsApp booking links for viral sharing.

Invoicing & CRM

Professional invoices in seconds. Client management, contracts, contact history.

Payment Anticipation

Get paid tomorrow instead of waiting 30 days. 1-2% fee. The killer feature.

Luma AI (pt-BR)

AI business assistant via WhatsApp. Onboarding, support, daily briefings, upgrade nudges.

Marketplace Listing

Auto-listed on Kasha marketplace + optional Mercado Livre / Amazon syndication.

The Killer Feature: Payment Anticipation

The Problem

In Brazil, merchants wait up to 30 days for credit card settlements. For a small barber shop or nail tech, that's rent money trapped in the system.

Kasha's Solution

Kasha offers next-day payout for a small 1-2% fee. Built on a receivables-backed model with an in-house risk engine. Lighter regulatory burden, massive merchant value.

This alone wins merchants. Payment anticipation is the #1 acquisition hook. Once a merchant experiences next-day settlement, switching cost is enormous. CAC recovery within 3 months from anticipation revenue alone.

Product: Kasha Business App

Luma AI: The 24/7 Business Partner

Luma is not a chatbot — it's an AI business partner that speaks Brazilian Portuguese natively. Powered by LLM tool-calling across all Kasha microservices, Luma operates via WhatsApp (the natural channel in Brazil) and handles:

Merchant-Facing

  • Daily business briefing via WhatsApp
  • Booking management & rescheduling
  • Invoice generation & payment reminders
  • Payment anticipation suggestions
  • Analytics & revenue insights

Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Inbound lead qualification (WhatsApp)
  • Full onboarding flow in pt-BR
  • Feature education & upgrade nudges
  • Support & troubleshooting 24/7
  • Referral program management

SoftPOS: Accept Payments on Any Phone

Kasha's SoftPOS turns any Android or iOS device into a payment terminal. No hardware, no rental fees, no contracts.

Zero hardware = zero friction. Merchant downloads app, accepts first Pix payment within 5 minutes. Compare to Stone/PagSeguro where you wait days for a physical maquininha to arrive.

Marketplace: Consumer Discovery Engine

Every SMB merchant gets a free listing on the Kasha marketplace. Consumers discover local services, book instantly, and pay via Pix.

The marketplace is the demand engine. Merchants join for the tools (POS, booking, invoicing). Consumers join for the marketplace. Each side pulls the other in. The marketplace is included in the SaaS subscription — no extra fee for merchants.

Platform Technology

Kasha SMB is powered by a production-proven microservices platform, not a prototype.

  • 43 Repositories
  • 18 NestJS Microservices
  • 10 Next.js Frontends
  • 2,372 Test Files
  • Production Services: Booking, CRM, E-commerce, Invoicing, Banking, KYC, Search, Notifications
  • PSP Integrations: Adyen (Cards) + Transfero (Pix, BRZ stablecoin)
  • Mobile: React Native (new build for BR market)

Architecture: Middleware Connectors

Kasha operates two distinct codebases: KashaCH (Heidi) — a Vite+Express monolith for the Swiss CSP market — and the Kasha Platform — a 43-repo NestJS microservices architecture. Both serve overlapping customers and need shared services (KYC, payments, CRM, compliance). The Middleware Connector pattern bridges them without duplication.

Architecture Decision (ADR-005): A Middleware Connector is a thin, standalone NestJS REST API that owns a single business domain. It sits between both platforms, providing a unified interface. Both platforms consume the same REST API — same data, same rules, zero duplication. Each connector is independently deployable, testable, and scalable via Docker.

Architecture: Shared Libraries

Architecture Decision (ADR-006): For every shared domain, business logic is extracted into a provider-agnostic shared library published on GitHub. The library defines the orchestrator, store interfaces, DTOs, providers, event system, and config schema. No database opinions — just contracts. Both middleware connectors and platform services consume the same library.

The formula for any shared domain:

  1. Extract business logic into a provider-agnostic shared library on GitHub
  2. Build a thin NestJS middleware connector that implements store adapters and exposes REST endpoints
  3. Consume from both platforms — same data, same rules, zero duplication
  4. Deploy as standalone Docker container on the shared network with CI/CD

Globalization Readiness

The platform was originally UK-centric. Globalization work is scoped and underway to support Brazil (and Switzerland).

Global Readiness3/10 → 8/10
Hardcoded GBP References158+ → 0
Pluggable Banking Layer10% → 90%
i18n Coverage (pt-BR)0% → 100%
React Native Mobile Apps0 → 2 apps

Foundation work is mapped and scoped — not a mystery. The middleware connector pattern makes this tractable: each domain is isolated and can be globalized independently.

Merchant Acquisition: Zero Sales Team

No sales team. No field reps. A nimble marketing team, a few devs, multi-tasking team members, and AI that doesn't sleep. In Brazil, the advantage is even bigger — WhatsApp is the sales channel, Pix is the hook, and Portuguese AI content is cheaper to produce than Swiss German.

Acquisition Hooks

  • Zero upfront cost: Free app, free SoftPOS. Pay only transaction fees.
  • Payment anticipation: "Get paid tomorrow" — the single most compelling pitch.
  • Referral bonus: "Indique e ganhe R$30." WhatsApp share, instant credit.

Channel Strategy

  • WhatsApp onboarding: Luma bot guides merchant setup entirely via WhatsApp.
  • Vertical landing pages: Dedicated pages for barbers, nail techs, cleaners, trainers.
  • Instagram/TikTok: AI-generated content at 30-40 posts/week.
  • Mercado Livre syndication: Merchants join Kasha to reach more buyers.

Consumer Demand: Pull, Don't Push

Organic Discovery

  • Marketplace SEO: "barbeiro perto de mim", "manicure em São Paulo"
  • Consumer app: Browse → Book → Pay via Pix. Zero friction.
  • Referral program: R$10 credit for inviting friends.

Merchant-Driven Growth

  • Social sharing: Booking links on Instagram & WhatsApp drive app installs.
  • WhatsApp confirmations: Every booking shows "agendado via Kasha".
  • Network effect: Each merchant brings their client base into the ecosystem.

Growth Flywheel

  1. Merchant joins (free + anticipation hook)
  2. Shares booking link on Instagram & WhatsApp
  3. Clients download the marketplace app to book
  4. Clients discover OTHER merchants on the platform
  5. More bookings = more volume through the system
  6. More volume = more revenue → fund lower fees → attract more merchants

Revenue funds lower fees → Lower fees attract more merchants → Cycle accelerates. Enterprise payees and CSP-formed entities also feed into SMB via the B2B2B flywheel (see full Brazil GTM).
